This Old Roof - The Bedell Fund Challenge

The 100-year old roof of our beloved church, Saints John, Paul, & Clement, must be replaced before the snows of winter can do further damage. Nails holding the clay roof tiles have rusted out, and scores of tiles are broken or unstable, creating a daily safety hazard and causing our insurer to threaten cancellation of our policy if not repaired as soon as possible.

DEAR FRIENDS OF SAINTS. JOHN, PAUL, AND CLEMENT:

Our church roof urgently needs to be replaced, at a cost of $100,000. Generous and deeply appreciated gifts to our last two Easter appeals have raised $24,000 toward this top priority work.

We have been approached by the Bedell Fund to explore a major potential grant of $50,000 toward our roof replacement, on the conditions that roof work on site begin during calendar 2024, and that we show clear and compelling evidence of where we will secure the balance of project funds needed. We meet with the Bedell Fund Board in late September.

Can we raise the $26,000 needed by September to “close the gap” and qualify for the Bedell Fund’s grant?

You can help, with a pledge to be paid over a period of time, or with a gift. Gifts can be put on your credit card, can come from a family fund or donor advised fund, or could be a gift of appreciated securities or of an IRA you no longer need. Many donors find it rewarding to give “in honor of” or “in memory of” a particular individual. Call us: we welcome the opportunity to talk with you about your giving questions or wishes.

If every household that we approach can pledge or give $200, we can meet the Bedell Fund Challenge.

Our staff and volunteers will be reaching out soon to ask parishioners, supporters and friends whether they will help us to meet the Bedell Fund Challenge. Thank for your contribution.
